Consider asking the following questions of civilian witnesses
- Date, Time and Location
- Where did their observations start?
 - How long did they have accused under observation?
 
 - Identity of the Driver
- How many people were in the vehicle?
 - Did they see the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle?
 - Was the driver the same person you took into custody?
 - Description details
 
 - Observations of Driving
- Did the witness observe the driving? Care and Control?
 - Speeding? Weaving? Infractions?
 
 - Observations of Driver
- Did the driver appear impaired to the witness?
 - See common indicators of impairment
 - Witnesses experience with people impaired by alcohol or drugs
 - Did they observe the accused consume drugs or alcohol before or after stop/accident?
 - Continuity of observations of accused – explain any time they did not have accused under observation.
 
 - Did they speak to the driver?
- Details of conversation
 - Obtain reports from ambulance or fire units who attended
